What is a climate cafe?

A climate cafe is a supportive group where people can come together to have a hot drink and share their feelings about the climate and ecological crises.

Why do we need them?

As we start to see that climate and ecological breakdown are a real threat to our health and wellbeing, we need to talk about how these changes affect us, our families, friends and wider society. Sometimes it is hard to talk about these things because they can bring up difficult feeings. A climate cafe can give you an opportunity to talk in a safe and supportive space.

What will happen?

During a cafe we will sit together and talk about our thoughts and feelings about the climate and environment. There are no special guests or speeches, and nobody gives advice. We just listen to each other and share our own experiences. There are two trained facilitators. The cafe itself will run for 90 minutes.

How much does it cost?

The climate cafe is free of charge.

Do I need to book?

We plan to run this cafe outside as long as the weather is suitable, so please book in advance if you want to attend. That way, we can contact you in advance if we need to move to an indoor venue. If you book and then change your mind, please cancel your space so we can open it up to other people, thank you.

Where is it?

Weather permitting, we will meet on the grassy area to the left of the Oldbury Court carpark entrance and walk together to a nearby location. Please wear clothing suitable for the weather, a tea cup and something waterproof / comfortable to sit on if needed.

If there is too much rain, we will contact you beforehand to provide details about a nearby indoor alternative.
