The entrance to Bridge Farm is under the M32 bridge. You will see a large painted sign saying ‘Bridge Farm’. Follow the driveway up and you will have arrived!
Sunday 13 September 11am-5pm
Bridge Farm was bought by Ashley Vale Action Group in 2018 to develop a new community-led housing project on the site, as they did successfully at the Yard in St. Werburghs. Differently from the first project where the site was a brownfield scaffolding yard, AVAG wanted to work the valuable ‘blue finger’ agricultural soil into their plans for Bridge Farm, integrating housing, food growing, community convening and stewarding wildlife. Bridge Farm is now a thriving community hub, home to a volunteer led Communal Growers group and Pigs and Chickens group, the Bristol Tree Craft, and our barns are frequently rented out for various events, parties, workshops and more. For this year’s Get Growing Trail, Bridge Farm will host a volunteer day on the Sunday from 11am-3pm. This will be led by the Communal Growers group, and attendees will be invited to get their hands in the soil. There is always plenty to do! The volunteer day will then be followed by the Bridge Farm Community Long Table, from 3pm-5pm. This monthly feast is an opportunity for the community around Bridge Farm (and beyond) to gather and connect by sharing food. The meal will be vegan, gluten-free and pay-what-you-can. You can come and eat without any expectation to pay. We will have sliding scale suggested donations on the day for those who can and wish to pay for the meal, from covering the costs of the ingredients, paying the chefs and a supporter option to help raise money for Bridge Farm.

Sims Hill has been running as a CSA for over 15 years. We want to celebrate Sims Hill and the CSA model, which is based on an agreement of trust between the consumer and farmer. The farmer grows the vegetables and provides a regular share to the consumer, who provides the farm with a reliable income. We share in and celebrate the wins and losses together. As part of this, we will be having a barbecue/pizzas, farm tours, some music, and hopefully a panel on CSAs. We will feast on the delights of the summer and say farewell to another season.

Our knowledgeable guides will lead you from the orchard to Nightingale Valley Wood (and back again) as we search for these remarkable creatures of the night. Bats play an important role in healthy ecosystems, helping to keep insect populations in balance and contributing to the biodiversity that supports food-growing spaces like community orchards. By learning more about the wildlife that shares these spaces with us, we can better understand how nature and food production work together. Don’t forget to bring a headtorch, warm clothes and sensible footwear (wellies or walking boots) for this exciting evening under the stars.
