Urban Growing

Join Avon Gleaning Network in the fields!

By Jo Pengilley

Have you heard of gleaning? It’s a centuries-old practice that is regaining importance today. Gleaning is collecting surplus good food from farms that would otherwise have gone to waste.

In this film, Jo Pengilley, who helps run the Avon Gleaning Network, explains the many reasons why gleaning is a great idea. Reducing food waste, encouraging time in nature, supporting food clubs, connecting people with their local food systems… The positive impacts are ripe for the picking.
