New Opportunities hub for Bristol’s food sector

By Bristol Food Network

We’re excited to announce the launch of the new Bristol Good Food 2030 Opportunities hub, a dedicated space bringing together jobs, training, volunteering and career pathways from across Bristol’s good food movement.

Designed as a central “go-to” platform for opportunities in Bristol’s food sector, the new hub aims to make it easier for people to discover meaningful work, build skills, connect with organisations and explore routes into the sector.

The launch builds on the success of the monthly Good Food Job Update, one of the most consistently popular features on the Bristol Good Food 2030 website. As the Bristol Good Food 2030 Partnership has evolved, it became clear there was a growing need for a more visible, accessible and permanent space dedicated to opportunities, careers and training.

The Opportunities hub has been developed collaboratively with the Bristol Good Food 2030 Food Economy, Access and Opportunity working group.

Partners identified that while there is incredible work happening across Bristol’s food sector, there are still limited pathways, resources and information available to help people, particularly young people, discover careers within it.

Bristol Good Food 2030 itself grew out of Bristol’s wider good food movement, following the city becoming one of the UK’s first Gold Sustainable Food Cities in 2021. Since then, the initiative has brought together organisations, communities and businesses working towards a fairer, healthier and more sustainable food system for Bristol.

What you’ll find on the Opportunities hub

The platform brings together a wide range of opportunities and resources, including:

  • Jobs
  • Volunteering opportunities
  • Apprenticeships
  • Training and courses
  • Funding opportunities
  • Career resources and pathways into the food sector

Users can also:

  • Filter opportunities by type, including jobs, training and volunteering
  • Search by sector or level, including entry-level roles, apprenticeships, hospitality, charity, academic, public sector and management roles
  • Submit opportunities directly through a moderated online form built with and for Bristol’s food sector

We want this platform to become a trusted, connected and genuinely useful resource for Bristol. We’re inviting organisations from across the city to start sharing opportunities and resources, including:

  • Local food producers, retailers and hospitality businesses
  • Community food organisations and social enterprises
  • Colleges, universities and training providers
  • Public sector teams working on skills, sustainability, economy and youth
  • Networks supporting enterprise, collaboration and access to good food

The hub is also for anyone looking to explore opportunities in the sector, including:

  • Students and young people
  • Employment support services and youth programmes
  • People already working in food
  • Anyone interested in starting a career in the food sector

What makes this different from other jobs boards?

The Bristol Good Food 2030 Opportunities hub is rooted in the values of Bristol’s good food movement. It’s not just about vacancies, it’s about creating pathways into work that support people, communities and the planet.

The platform aims to be:

A values-led careers hub

Helping people discover real pathways into Bristol’s food sector, where every opportunity can contribute positively to communities, climate and nature.

Trusted, connected and community-driven

Created with and for Bristol’s food sector, bringing employers, educators and future food leaders together in one place.

Accessible for people new to the sector

Making it easier to take a first step into meaningful work in food, whether through volunteering, training, apprenticeships or entry-level roles.

As part of the submission process, organisations are encouraged to share not only the role itself, but also the wider impact of the work, helping applicants understand how their contribution connects to positive change across Bristol’s food system.

Explore and get involved

The Opportunities hub will continue to grow and evolve through collaboration. The more organisations and networks that contribute opportunities and resources, the more valuable the platform becomes for everyone.

Explore the new hub, submit your opportunities and share it with your networks: Bristol Good Food 2030 Opportunities.
